Admissions officer Olvin Viscus sends new Wizards chasing down signatures from all five Doctores of the Chartered Academy of Arcane Inquiry, before Headmaster Jabir Ilhamar tasks them with investigating the disappearance of a fellow student in the Tomb of the Last Wyrmsbane.
Walkthrough
Part 1
A new Wizard starts out enrolled sight-unseen in the Chartered Academy of Arcane Inquiry, with a carefully rolled note directing them to the floating wizard tower in Sageside via the translocation devices at its base. Olvin Viscus, the Academy's administrator, greets you with mild confusion before remembering he's expecting a new student, then loads you up with an Academy Prospectus and folio that need signatures from all five heads of the Academy's schools before you can formally enroll.
The signature-gathering doubles as a tour of the tower and library. Veygen Antorious, master of Aethernautical Exploration, signs without much fuss partway up the tower. Continuing upward to Jabir Ilhamar, the Academy's head doctore, earns a signature along with a stern warning not to be a nuisance. Down at the Grand Library, Adimah Starseeker of Celestial Investigation is too absorbed in her reading to sign right away — she instead sends you to fetch her prized quill from her son and adjunct, Domas Starseeker, tending the orrery back up in the tower. Returning the retrieved quill finally earns her signature.
Back in the tower, Rallin Wizzentrop of Aberration Research is distracted and hastily pockets your prospectus, mistaking you for a delivery runner and asking you to pass a message to Hamsar in the library. Hamsar is happy to hear his repaired item has finally arrived, but breaks the news that Rallin still has your paperwork — he scribbles out a receipt to smooth things over. Trade that receipt for your (now suspiciously grease-stained) signed prospectus back at Rallin's desk. The last signature belongs to Lanna Ivintoria of Humanoid Studies in the library, who wants proof of your "arcane prowess" in the form of two snake skins before she'll sign — any snake killed outside Night Harbor's north gate will do.
With all five signatures collected, combine them and the original prospectus inside the Academy Folio to produce a Complete Academy Prospectus, then return it to Olvin Viscus. He seals the folio with an official wax stamp and sends you up to Jabir Ilhamar one final time. Jabir confirms your enrollment as a Grade 0 student and conjures an Academy Student's Robe on the spot, sending you off to practice your spells and return once you've made some progress.
Part 2
Once you reach level 4, hailing Jabir Ilhamar again brings troubling news: a fellow student named Viridon was sent to investigate the Tomb of the Last Wyrmsbane and never returned. Jabir asks you to search the tomb for any sign of him, with a strong recommendation to bring companions given the danger. A Scorched Academy Folio drops randomly from skeletal mobs within the tomb, and recovering it confirms Jabir's worst fears when he recognizes it as belonging to Viridon.
Shaken, Jabir asks you to carry the scorched folio down to Liyna Esueiruc in the Grand Library for closer analysis. She examines it and identifies unusual runic scorch marks consistent with necromantic magic, praising your caution for staying out of danger yourself, and hands over a sealed note to relay back to Jabir. Delivering that note closes the loop on this stage of the investigation — Jabir, badly shaken, trades your original robe for a Gilded Academy Student's Robe in thanks for your discretion and effort, and asks you to continue your studies before returning for what comes next. Further conversation once you've reached a higher level reveals the grim truth that Viridon is confirmed dead, setting the stage for a deeper investigation into the necromantic threat stalking the Academy's students.
