The Ranger is the Wilderness Veteran of Monsters and Memories — blades up close, a bow at range, and a lifetime of fieldcraft. The Early Access rework pulled the class away from borrowed Druid magic: the fire nukes, damage-over-time spells and elemental imbues are gone, replaced by a fast martial kit of openers and follow-ups, four stances, practical wound care and a campfire that speeds your group’s recovery. You’re a damage dealer first, but your outdoor utility is what makes groups glad to have you.
Updated for Early Access · September 2026
- Damage in melee and at range from one character
- Stackable bleeds from blade and bow
- Four stances, including an off-tank stance and a group run-speed stance
- Healing Poultices, regeneration and Recuperate at your own Hearth cut group downtime
- Tracking, outdoor concealment and foraged food, drink and cureberries
- Less burst than a dedicated damage class
- Limited aggro control when you off-tank
- Your best utility works outdoors, not in dungeons
- Juggling two weapon sets and a stance takes practice
- Needs arrows as well as blades
Ranger combat follows a rhythm: an opener, then one follow-up, then an opener again. Opening Strike and Leading Shot share a cooldown, so each time you pick melee or bow, then choose the follow-up the fight needs — a bleed, a slow, or a big hit. Warden and Marksman stances let each weapon refresh the other’s bleed; Survivor Stance lets you hold a mob in a pinch; Longstrider speeds your group across open country. After the pull, light a Hearth and call Recuperate.
For players who like being useful between fights as well as during them. If you enjoy exploring outdoor zones, leading the group across them and making a choice every few seconds about which ability fits, the Ranger rewards you. Players who live in dungeons will use less of the kit.
