Tanning turns raw pelts into Canvas and other materials used by Leatherworking and Tailoring.
Tanner Burhan trains the skill at the Tannery in Night Harbor, and will buy back excess hides, leather, and thread. Drop pelts into a Tanning Bucket one at a time to turn them into Canvas — so it’s worth holding onto them. Tanning Buckets can be found above the Traders Terrace in Faelindral, northeast of the West Bank in Night Harbor’s Tannery district, and in the village at Keeper’s Bight.
Tanning has one job: turning pelts into Scraps at the tier that matches the pelt’s quality — Low-Quality pelts become Rawhide Scraps, Medium-Quality become Hide Scraps, and High-Quality become Leather Scraps. Those Scraps feed straight into Leatherworking’s own Rawhide/Hide/Leather tiers, and Canvas from the Tanning Bucket rounds out several Tailoring recipes too.
Tanning levels alongside whatever you’re already skinning — there’s no separate farming loop, just drop pelts into a Tanning Bucket as you collect them. Tanner Burhan buys back your excess Scraps, Leather, and thread, so it’s a low-hassle way to offset repair costs while you level.
Skinning — supplies the raw pelts Tanning converts into Scraps.
