Archer Starter Quest (Night Harbor)

Walkthrough

New archers in Night Harbor begin with a Notice of Recruitment ordering them to the Steel Talons Martial Academy on the southwest side of the city, where Fedamius Steele III keeps watch over the courtyard from the wall above. He barely glances at the note before waving the recruit back down the stairs to find his brother-in-law, Jacobin Yeats, who actually handles the archery training. Jacobin has a dry sense of humor and a habit of needling new recruits, but he hands over a Steel Talon Trainee Tunic and Jacobin's Bag before getting down to business: the Ashira have scouts prowling outside the western gate, and he wants their necklaces as proof the recruit can actually hit something.

Heading out to the west gate noob yard and hunting Ashira scouts until four necklaces have dropped, then combining them into Jacobin's Bag, produces a Bag of Ashira Scout Necklaces ready for turn-in. Jacobin is satisfied but not finished — he raises the stakes with Jacobin's Pack, asking for six Ashira Warrior Necklaces this time, sourced either from tougher warriors near the same noob yard or from the small Ashira camps scattered through the Shaded Dunes. Filling and combining the pack into a Pack of Ashira Warrior Necklaces and handing it back earns a laugh and a genuine note of approval — Jacobin's Note — along with an implicit nod that the recruit has earned their place.

The final step is a simple formality: bring the Trainee Tunic and Jacobin's Note to the Garrison Quartermaster stationed on the north side of the courtyard. He reads the note, breaks into a grin, and outfits the newly minted archer with the proper Steel Talons Bowman Tunic, officially welcoming them into the ranks and improving their standing with the Night Harbor Garrison.
