Part 1

New bards arrive in Faelindral carrying a letter from Naerith Songbird, inviting them to present themselves to Pine Brightreed at the Willows Whisper stage. Brightreed is short-staffed for the evening's show — his headliner has cancelled — and asks the new arrival to run a Ticket Satchel full of vouchers out to the five patrons who'd bought tickets: Sylvosa Pineweld in the smelting area of Traders Terrace, Wyrdguard Mithrilvine at the base of the Keeper's Lift, Listener Maplebloom near the shaman trainers at the Balanced Branch, Sersil Tangleroot up at the Pixie Lift, and Lorinthal Skybranch in the tree trunk south of the Traveler's Lift. Most patrons trade their ticket for a voucher without much fuss, though Sersil insists on sharing a rambling bit of fae philosophy before handing his over. Once all five tickets are collected and combined into a Full Ticket Satchel, returning it to Brightreed sets up the recruit's very first stage appearance.

Brightreed hands over a Donation Basket and points to a shelf of well-worn public instruments, encouraging the recruit to pick one out and take the stage. The instrument chosen — usually a battered recorder that looks better than the rest of the junk on the shelf — turns out to be secretly cursed with a comedic "cacophony" affliction, and the resulting performance is a farce of shrieking notes, jammed mouthpieces, and fruit thrown by an unimpressed crowd. Still, the chaos draws a full basket of "donations," which get combined and handed back to Brightreed along with the recorder. He admits the prank once the recruit forgives him, and directs them up to Laenyth Windharp in the Lambent Lantern with a fruit-stained washcloth as an introduction. Laenyth, the troupe's Tale Keeper, passes along a note for Sylphrena Starfall upstairs, who rewards the trouble with a Ring of Introduction and asks the recruit to come back once they've spent more time getting to know Faelindral.

Part 2

At level 5, showing Sylphrena the Ring of Introduction sets up a bit of mischief: Brightreed has an upcoming solo performance, and Sylphrena wants to turn it into a comedy of errors. She hands over an Ingredient Bag and asks for two Royal Jelly, two Pixie Glitter, and two Wasp Worker Wax, gathered from around the Weald and combined into the bag. Sylphrena mixes the reagents into a syrupy concoction and asks that it be poured into a glass of Cilindrine Red stolen from the bar's wine barrel, then served to Brightreed before he goes on stage. He drinks it without suspicion, and the resulting performance is a rambling, off-balance parade of tree puns that ends with the crowd pelting him with the very same donations he once collected. Returning the empty glass to Sylphrena earns the Lambent Lute — a real, uncursed instrument — with instructions to practice until ready for actual Wanderer work.

Part 3

Around level 8, presenting the practiced Lambent Lute to Sylphrena starts the final chapter: a diplomatic mission to the naiads of the Whispering Pools, led by the imperious water nymph Mistress Naelira. The naiads have been pushing beyond their pact with the fae, unsettling the Ardent Keepers, and Sylphrena wants a neutral performer to find out why. She sends the recruit down to Laenyth, who has some history with the naiads and helps brew a Potion of River's Allure to safely withstand their hostility. The potion recipe calls for two Selstie kelp harvested from riverbeds, five river essence collected from confused river elementals, two vials of crude fish oil rendered from whitefish in an alchemist's cauldron, a Siren's Tear supplied by Laenyth herself, and a tempered vial bought from the Well of Order. Combining the ingredients and returning the finished mixture nets a working Potion of River's Allure.

Drinking the potion and approaching Mistress Naelira under the waterfall goes poorly at first — she tests the recruit's borrowed lute and snaps a string in disdain, sending them off to find better strings. Flerri Dawntender the tailor agrees to weave something sturdier, but only if supplied with silk from the oversized recluse spiders lurking in a hollow log in Keeper's Bight. Defeating the deadwood matriarch there yields a Bundle of Strong Silk, which Flerri uses to restring the broken lute into the Silk-Strung Lute. With a freshly brewed potion in hand (Laenyth will refill it on request), the recruit returns to Naelira, who finally accepts the instrument and invites a real performance among her assembled naiads — a call-and-response routine of stage directions capped with a bow. The performance wins her over just enough that she enchants the lute before handing it back along with her token of favor. Bringing the enchanted instrument back to Sylphrena Starfall at the guildhall closes out the chain, earning the Lute of the Charmed as recognition of a job well done.
