Enchanter Starter Quest (Night Harbor)

Part 1 — The Choice (Level 1, both paths)

1. You start carrying a Torn Note urging you to keep your enchanter training secret rather than register with the city as the law requires.
2. Deliver the note to Master Wincog, found at his curious goods shop along the stairway connecting Sageside to Saltbreeze Park.
3. Wincog explains the choice: register with Registrar Vauquelin in the Spellbinders Spire (near the entrance, on the ground floor), or bring the registration form back to him unsigned. He hands you a Sealed Registration Form either way.

Part 2a — Staying Unregistered (Wincog path)

1. Hand the Sealed Registration Form back to Master Wincog instead of delivering it. He asks you to run some deliveries for his friend Nerlbus and hands you a Dusty Violet Robe, Wincog's Delivery Bag, and four labeled parcels: an Ivory Inlaid Box, Smoky Glass Vial, Ornately Locked Book, and Small Golden Cage.
2. Put on the robe and bag, then tell Wincog you're ready. He teleports you near the Soujourner's Camp.
3. Give the Ivory Inlaid Box to Bieito Brightsmile at the camp. In exchange you receive a Large Black Stone Egg, and he directs you to Mirembe in the harbor district.
4. Find Mirembe Tiifu on the balcony above the arches south-southeast of the Monk/Elementalist guild, just east of the Customs Office (enter from the west side). Give her the Smoky Glass Vial and receive a Writhing Leather Bag. She sends you north to the Concourse of Souls.
5. Find Malory Moreland on the second floor of the Concourse of Souls, in the room with the Necromancer and Shadow Knight spell merchants. Give her the Ornately Locked Book and receive a Locked 6-fold Notebook and a NODROP Scroll: Invisibility Versus Undead. She sends you to Sexton Harding at the cemetery outside the North Gate, reachable via a shortcut through the Black Feather Bazaar. Scribing and casting the invisibility scroll before you go isn't required, but it's recommended for the next step at low level.
6. Find Sexton Harding by a campfire past the cemetery ruins, reached by turning left just outside Night Harbor's North Gate. Give him the Small Golden Cage and receive an Engraved Human Skull he'd forgotten he was holding for Wincog.
7. Combine the Large Black Stone Egg, Writhing Leather Bag, Locked 6-fold Notebook, and Engraved Human Skull inside Wincog's Delivery Bag, then return the filled bag to Master Wincog.
8. Wincog thanks you and hands you a Silver Key of Candor, directing you to the Grand Library in Sageside to find Vaclav.
9. From the floating caster tower, take the portal marked Library, then the portal in front of you down one floor. Walk through a bookcase into an empty room, which teleports you into the Enchanter guild (in the harbor district) where Vaclav is waiting. Show him the Silver Key of Candor; he hands it right back and tells you to see Jaakima downstairs.
10. Exit the tower, turn left, and enter the first door on the right to find Jaakima. Show him the key. He sends you one floor down to see Piia.
11. Find Piia one floor below Jaakima. Show her the key, and she asks you to investigate a smugglers' camp west of the city for an ironbound crate meant for someone important.
12. Go to the Smuggler's Camp in Shaded Dunes and enter the second tent from the east (can be done day or night, and while invisible — a smuggler may investigate but you can run out before being caught). Use /look to notice a pile of old fishing nets, then /inspect nets to find an Ironbound Wooden Box hidden beneath them.
13. Return to Night Harbor and go behind the stage in the Night Market to find Jamee Langris. Give him the box (keep the Silver Key of Candor on you, or he'll ask for identification). He gives you a Finely Wrapped Gift to bring back to Piia.
14. Return to the Enchanter guild and give the Finely Wrapped Gift to Piia. She rewards you with the Braided Crystal Ring, completing the quest.

Part 2b — Registering Instead (Vauquelin path)

1. Alternatively, deliver the Sealed Registration Form to Registrar Vauquelin. Your faction with the House of Candor worsens, and he registers you as a lawful enchanter, handing you a Rough Cut Robe that you're required to wear as proof of registration.
2. You may keep the Rough Cut Robe, or take it to Master Wincog. Handing it over lets him quietly remove the tracking enchantment on it, after which he offers you the same delivery errand described in Part 2a (robe, bag, and parcels) so you can work back into the House of Candor's good graces — follow the steps above from that point on.
